Our client is a multidisciplinary environmental consultancy providing an extensive range of specialist services across a diverse range of market sectors. With a long standing track record, delivering significant, integrated environmental services and solutions in the UK and internationally in terrestrial and marine environments.
Their clients range from renewable energy developers to oil and gas operators with projects ranging from full scale Environmental Impact Assessments to individual technical studies.
Role
Responsible for the effective leadership of the business; specifically accountable for the management control of the business in meeting financial and performance objectives and targets consistent with the Group Strategy and policies and Business Plan
Responsibilities
· Implementing the strategy, direction and policies of the company
· Ensuring the company is and remains financially stable and profitable
· Achieve defined objectives and targets through the efficient use of resources as defined in the company’s business plan
· The achievement of corporate and business plan objectives through the personal leadership, guidance and motivation of directors and senior staff
· Formulating and ensuring the implementation of company policy aimed at appropriate and sustainable business growth
· Developing and implanting long term, strategic planning
· Ensuring that the services provided by the company are consistent and in keeping with ‘fitness for purpose’ in meeting customer & client requirements
· Maintaining the corporate image of the business and liaising closely with Regional and Sector Directors to ensure this is monitored and maintained
· Promoting both a positive performance culture & the company culture throughout the company
· Maintaining health & safety within the current guidelines and legislation for company staff and in accordance with business contracts that staff are engaged on
· Ensuring all current employment law is upheld within the company
· Environmental & Sustainability policies; recognising and working within the framework of the Environmental & Sustainability policies of the Group and company
Experience & Accountabilities
· Able to demonstrate a strong track record of achievement in a senior managerial role and preferably qualified to post graduate level in a managerial or related discipline
· Experience of leading successful business development activities at a senior level
· Recognised qualification/experience in a discipline relevant to the work undertaken by the company; 5 years or more of applying this experience at a senior level
· Evidence of the competencies associated with the post of Managing Director. Most specifically; the ability to provide strong leadership, build & maintain an effective senior management team, excellent influencing & negotiating skills, a track record of effectively managing business growth, the ability to promote a positive performance culture and to flexibly & effectively lead change
· Understanding of the capabilities of the group of companies or the ability to quickly assimilate and apply this understanding
· Project, contract and business management experience preferably within a private sector consultancy environment.
