Overhead Line Design Engineer

Job Summary
My clients are well recognised across the electricity utility sector for the wealth of experience it possesses within its staff. Their two main business streams offer a wide range of expertise from fault and protection studies in the UK to meter and tariff systems in the middle-east.

We are assisting them to recruit Overhead Line Design Engineers to join their South East based design team to actively support the production and delivery of OHL designs, to facilitate the delivery of OHL projects throughout the UK network.

The role will require occasional travel to other offices and client site locations across the UK with the occasional overnight stay; therefore you will need to be quite flexible.

This is an opportunity to join a well established, consultancy organisation with decades of experience in the transmission and distribution sector, delivering an exciting and diverse project portfolio to a wide range of long standing customers.

Requirements
You will be an experience Overhead Line Design Engineer with knowledge and experience in the following areas;
- Qualified to certificate level in a related discipline
- Applied experience using software products such as PLS-CAD and optimal
- Practical knowledge of the wayleaves and consents process
- Good general numeric and mathematical skills.
- Knowledge of QA systems and design reviews
- Knowledge and experience of the UK distribution network
- Experience of client liaison
- Carry our peer reviews/quality checks for all design works

Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include the following;
- Design preparation against client requirements
- Supporting senior engineers in the delivery of their projects and ensuring that work is delivered within time and budget
- Support operational staff, answering technical queries
