Head of Carbon Transmission

Our client by leveraging world leading carbon capability from Enhanced Oil Recovery projects they are now developing business in the Carbon Capture and Storage sector, both in the UK and Overseas.

Your role will be to lead all aspects of delivery for carbon transmission projects through FEED detailed design, construction support, commissioning and handover, satisfying the Customer and achieving or improving upon set objectives of time, cost and specification, ensuring adherence to the Client and Company requirements and the Company’s policies and processes.

You will have proven experience in the gas and process sectors, including projects involving transportation of C02, with a demonstrable track record of delivering results, managing people and project finances and reporting of progress.

You will have a working knowledge of HAZID, HAZOP and Process Safety. You will also be able to demonstrate project management competency.

The telephone Interview

Very common in today’s job market is an initial phone interview. As companies get inundated with applicants, they save a great deal of time by screening out many ‘close fit’ candidates through an initial phone interview rather than having the person come in.

Candidates often take these phone conversations lightly, assuming that if the company called, they will certainly bring them in. Phone interviews can be wrought with danger for an unprepared, or too casual a candidate.

Keep in mind, the purpose of the phone interview is to weed out a number of people from the ‘Maybe’ file of applicants so that there might be 3 to 5 candidates left standing to invite for on-site interviews. Since, in phone interviews, you cannot see facial expressions or body language to give you clues as to how an answer is being received, they are often not followed up with a call back.It is critical to view the phone interview just as important as an on-site interview, and be well prepared.

Q: Tell me about yourself

A: It seems like an easy interview question. Its open ended so you think you can talk about whatever you want Right?

Wrong. What the interviewer really wants is a quick, two- to three-minute summary of who you are and why you are the best candidate for this position.

This is something we all should know, your quick summary, your introduction to you, know your own story, rehearse it, make it short sweet and full of personality, people buy people

So as you answer this question, talk about what your career progression, Then ask if they would like more details. If they do, keep giving them example after example of your background and experience. Always point back to an example when you have the opportunity.

Tell me about yourself does not mean tell me everything. Just tell me what makes you the best.

Q: Why should I give you the job”

A: How many times have you been asked this, so make sure you have your answer prepared and ready....

your answer should be short and to the point, highlight areas from your past that are relevant, if need be recap the job description meeting it point by point with your relevant skills., finish your answer with “have I answered your question” and always ask for the job, by saying, “is there any reason why you would not give me this job” you can then answer any issues right then and there...

Q: What have you done that shows initiative?

A: This question is probing whether or not you are a doer, someone who looks for ways to increase sales and save time and money..the kind of employee who gives there manager a pleasant surprise by thinking outside the box. Be careful when answering your answer does not involve disregard for company policies and procedures.
